Grade 5 & 6 (Girls)
Ramadan Assembly was conducted on April 22nd. The festival of Ramadan, a period of one month, is a time of self-examination and increasing religious devotion. Students zoomed in for a special assembly to promote the meanings and values from rituals like fasting. It also aimed to instill feeling of oneness and solidarity with the people of the nation. It was an opportunity to wish the leadership of the nation, the Emirati community and all residents of the UAE a happy and blessed Holy month.
Earth Day Celebration (digital classrooms) was held on April 22nd. Students celebrated this day through different activities pertaining to subjects like Science, English and Art. It created awareness among them about the importance of protecting our planet and taking action.
Grade 5 & 6 (Boys)
World Earth Day was held on April 13th. This day was an opportunity for students to appreciate the uniqueness of our planet Earth with its incredible biodiversity. They participated in thematic assembly and pledge to save Earth.
World Health Day was celebrated on April 14th. The objective was to raise awareness towards health issues and healthy habits. Students paid a tribute through their posters to the community helpers at this pandemic situation.
Bullying Prevention Week was conducted from April 26th to 30th. During this week, students were engaged in slogan writing competition, quiz on ‘what you know about bullying’, create bullying prevention pledge wall, reading session on bullying prevention and short movie on bullying – review writing. It reinforced awareness about bullying prevention in an effective and a creative way. It also helped to check their understanding of bullying & how to prevent it, spread awareness about the need of bullying prevention, decipher bullying from normal behavior through reading of relevant literature and test their reaction on situation & events related to bullying.
World Book Day was held on April 30th. Students designed the cover page of their favourite book. It aimed to encourage them to read books, enrich vocabulary, improve concentration and enhance their artistic skills.
Grade 7 & 8 (Girls)
Earth Day was celebrated on April 22nd. Through this day, students participated in creating posters, poems and models. They made beautiful handmade posters, models & wrote poems dedicated to our mother Earth and submitted digitally to their respective teachers.
Ramadan Assembly was conducted on April 23rd. This assembly helped students to better understand the Holy month of Ramadan and the rules that are to be followed. A message for the Holy month of Ramadan was conveyed through a video presentation digitally.
Grade 7 & 8 (Boys)
World Health Day celebration was held on April 14th. The objective was to encourage students to eat healthy food and raise global awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization. They were asked to record their message of gratitude towards the health worker or create a thank you card and e-mail it to their favorite Doctor / Nurse by appreciating their dedication & duty towards the community.
Earth Day celebration was held on April 22nd. This day created awareness among students about Earth’s environment. They were encouraged to design posters and show their appreciation towards mother earth.
Bullying Prevention Week was conducted from April 26th to 30th. Students participated in slogan writing competition, quiz competition, pledge wall, reading session and watching a video about the topic. It aimed to reinforce awareness about anti-bullying in an effective and creative way. It also helped them in capturing the essence of the topic being discussed in short phrases, thereby making them understand the underlying meaning. It helped to educate & increase their awareness on the given topic, ignite their thinking capacity in such situations & how they would react and know the effect of bullying & its dangers. It was opportunities for them to outpour their creativity in the form of slogans, enable them to react in tricky situations in real life by provoking the young minds to assess the situation & come to a right decision, voice their thoughts against bullying, get a better perspective and understand that they should stand against bullying. They also got to see their pledges being displayed along with their friends giving them a confidence to stand against it.
Grade 9 & 10 (Girls)
Poster Making on World Heritage Day was held on April 23rd. This activity created awareness among students about the diversity of cultural heritage of humanity and efforts required for their protection & conservation of cultural heritage and promoting tourism.
Short Speech by students about the Holy month of Ramadan was organized on April 29th. The purpose for students was instilling a sense of respect and appreciation of the Holy month of Ramadan.
Grade 9 & 10 (Boys)
World Health Day was held on April 7th. Students were asked to show their gratitude towards the COVID work force through posters or post- cards making competition based on the theme of ongoing Pandemic. They made the colourful cards with beautiful messages and submitted them online.
International Mother Earth Day was celebrated on April 22nd. Through this day, poster making for grade 9 and extended writing for grade 10 were held online which saw the students involved and buzzing. Their enthusiasm knew no bounds when they showed their prowess and creativity in the products they designed.
Ramadan Assembly was conducted on April 22nd. During this assembly, significance of the Holy month of Ramadan was explained through a presentation and video online. Students recited the Holy Quran and described its meaning. With a power point presentation they elaborated the rules and health benefits of fasting which need to be followed during the Holy month of Ramadan.
World Book & Copyright Day was held on April 23rd. This day aimed to encourage students to explore the pleasure of books and reading. They were asked to read a book of their choice and send the review along with their picture online.
Unit Tests (online) were conducted from April 19th to 29th for boys and from April 19th to 30th for girls.
Round Square - Challenge: “Drop of kindness that make the Ocean” was organized from April 6th till 15th for grades 5 to 12. This activity brought up challenges every week for its Round Square Schools. Under the RS IDEALS Challenge- Drop of Kindness, students made art work showing kindness under water drop. Each drop of kindness will make sea of happiness. They learnt how small act of kindness can make our world better place to live. They came up with creative skills.
Round Square- IDEAL Challenge Environmentalism was conducted from April 7th onwards for grades 5 to 12. This challenge asked students to consider how their choices, actions and behaviors can impact the environment, and the ways in which they can therefore reduce, improve or increase their impact by changing those choices, actions and behaviors. The final challenge asked them to create a personal sustainability action plan. They submitted their work in the form of posters, PPT, Documents, Worksheets and Comic Strips. It was an opportunity for them to explore Global Education platform, collaboration with other Round Square Schools around the world, to utilize available resources and plans for extended learning across the Curriculum. It also aimed to promote independent learning with as supplementary activities and to create global citizen.
Mini Box Office Quarantine Film Challenge was conducted on April 10th for grades 5 to 12. Mini Box Office Noida has invited students to present their film during the quarantine period. Movie was made without stepping out from home. They learnt how to be creative during quarantine period. They came up with positive ideas that how many ways we have to keep ourselves happy and productive.
Round Square – Activity (Black & White Online photography exhibition) was organized from April 17th till 23rd for grades 7 to 12.Our students participated in online collaborative activity through photography competition during COVID situation with Maria's Public School, Guwahati, Assam, India, from April 20th to 28th. Without stepping out to click photos, students participated in this online activity by submitting black and white photographs. Few pictures which were clicked previously can be submitted. Photograph submitted in the area of ‘Portraits & Expression’, ‘Nature & Texture’ and ‘Patterns & Shadows’. It helped to develop their visual observation skills & creative expression and know about principles of photography design through critical appreciation & peer analysis.
Round Square – Inventure Academy Change Maker Challenge Competition was held on April 20th for grades 7 to 12. “Necessity is the mother of invention”, keeping same thought in mind Inventure Academy Bangalore, India has introduced challenge to the students around the world, that during this COVID situation what students are doing for the improvement of e-education at different areas including areas where there is no internet. 11 teams of IHS participated in this challenge and submitted their initial proposal to the Inventure Academy Bangalore. Out of 246 teams across the world, 4 teams of IHS qualified Semi-Final Round and 3 teams qualified for the Finals. The final round was on May 5 & 6, 2020. They were able to explore sustainable solutions for education, and schools in particular as part of its virtual ‘Change Maker Challenge’. It also helped them develop team work, collaboration, research skill and public speaking.
Wellbeing Care Letters were organised through the entire month of April, 2020 for students, parents and staff. These letters equipped them with concrete tools for them to practice well-being. It also helped them enhance their wellbeing & positivity and strengthen their coping skills & mental health.
