Helping Hands activity was organised on April 11th. This activity was an opportunity for senior students to reignite memories of their school days and to strengthen the school’s community service program. Senior students from grades 4, 7 & 8 girls helped our little ones in the classrooms and in the corridors.
Toy Joy Day was held on April 18th. During this day, students brought small toys in the class to learn and practice sharing. This vital skill they got to understand that it is essential for play & learning throughout their childhood days.
Colour Day was held on April 25th. This day helped students to enhance their colour concept and improve their communication skills as they engaged in the fun filled activities like hand printing. They came to school wearing their assigned coloured dress (red or blue) and spoke few sentences describing an object they brought to school.
Assembly was conducted on April 28th. Students were overwhelmed to meet, greet and learn the name of the Headmistress and section Supervisor.
Assembly was conducted on April 8th. During this assembly, students were welcomed to their new section by the Headmistress. They were asked on how they like their new learning environment & their new teachers, how excited they are to learn and have a new adventure in KG 2. The response received from students was encouraging. Meet and greet was also included.
City Tour was organised on April 9th. Students got lots of fun and valuable learning experience. It also helped them build background knowledge about the city, learn new vocabulary words and create awareness of the safety rules while travelling in the bus. They were familiarized with various landmarks of the Dubai.
Cool Pool Day was held from April 14th till 30th. This day was another way to enjoy the water together. It was a combination of learning and enjoyment. Students enjoyed splashing water while learning scientific vocabulary like pouring, sinking & floating and heavy & light. They were also made aware about the safety rules to be followed while in the pool.
Orientation for Parents was organised on April 1st. Parents were made aware with the rules & regulations in the school in order to be familiar with the system. Procedures and policies were briefed to them. Introduction to the Supervisor & teachers and welcoming parents to the new academic year were also included.
Grade 1 & 2
Assembly was conducted on April 7th. During this assembly, students were addressed by Headmistress / Supervisor and introduced to the heads of the section to welcome them to the new academic session. Power point presentation was also shown to them. It aimed to familiarize them with the rules, regulations, discipline in the school and the proper school & PE uniform to be worn.
Achiever’s Day was held on April 8th. Students who have excelled in academics were given certificates to felicitate them on their outstanding performance. It aimed to encourage them to ace consistently in their academics.
Health & Wellness Week begun on April 15th. Activities related to Health and Wellness was performed for their awareness. Girls’ students theme was ‘Jog to Good Health’. They jogged around the school campus at the start of the day. It made them aware of the importance of good health and healthy lifestyle.
Grade 1 (Girls)
Fancy Dress Competition was conducted on April 28th & 29th. A theme was allotted to each division through draw of lots. It was an opportunity for students to think creatively, enhance their speaking skills, instill confidence in them and harness talents of various performers.
Grade 1 & 2 (Girls)
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘Good Health’, ‘The Year of Tolerance’ and ‘Ramadan’ were conducted on April 16th, 23rd & 30th with mass participation of grade 2 divisions ‘B & C’ and Islamic students respectively. These assemblies aimed to motivate & enhance public speaking skills of the students and harness their talents. It also created awareness among them of importance of good health, year of tolerance and holy month of Ramadan.
Health and Wellness Week (sandwich & salad making) was held on April 17th. This activity created awareness about healthy eating habits and inculcating health is wealth among students.
Health and Wellness Week (Zumba) was held on April 18th. Students combined dance with exercise and staying healthy through this fun activities. They participated in Zumba for health and fitness.
Grade 2 (Girls)
Trip to Dubai Museum was organised from April 23rd till 28th. This educational trip created awareness and interest among students for the culture & heritage.
Grade 1 & 2 (Boys)
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Tolerance’ and Health & Wellness Week were conducted on April 16th, 17th & 18th. This assembly helped students to learnt team spirit and gain confidence to communicate effectively. It also helped them to develop a sense of confidence while promoting awareness on good physical and mental health.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Earth Day / World Book Day’ was conducted on April 23rd. Through this assembly, students performed on stage and displayed their literary skills in collaboration with various subjects. There was a boost of confidence in them as they worked in team spirit. It was also an opportunity for them to display the importance of reading & books and learn how to keep the planet safe.
Grade 2 (Boys)
Social Studies Field Trip was organised on April 29th & 30th. Students visited the Dubai Museum. It was an opportunity for them to learn to respect the ancient culture of UAE. They also experienced a firsthand account of the historical aspect of the country.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Spirit of Ramadan’ was conducted on April 30th. This assembly helped students to develop their confidence and work in team spirit to display the spirit of giving & tolerance. It also helped them overcome their inhibitions and develop their social & ethical skills.
House Inception ceremony was conducted on April 10th. Houses were allotted to new Grade 3 Batch. Students of each house along with the House Mistress and Assistant House Mistress took the oath to serve their houses to the best of their abilities. It aimed to develop among them an understanding of the significance of the houses they belong to and to make them aware of their roles & responsibilities.
Educational Trips to Etihad Museum (Social Science) were organised from April 10th till 15th for boys and from April 17th till 23rd for girls. These educational trips were an opportunity for students to compare and contrast what is important for them which lead to higher critical thinking skills. They also got an exclusive experience that allowed them to discover the Union House and Guest House. They saw the story of the founding of UAE.
Educational Trips to Holy Quran Mamzar were organised on April 25th & 28th. These educational trips were an opportunity for students to demonstrate their co-curricular skills in reciting the Holy Quran. It was also an opportunity for them to learn more about Prophet Muhammed’s (PBUH) life, His family, His companions and Prophets of Allah. It encouraged them to learn & memorize the Holy Quran and get more information about Holy places like Makkah, Madinah & Jerusalem.
Grade 3 & 4
Assembly by Supervisor and Headmistress was conducted on April 7th. Students were made aware of the various school rules, regulations, discipline and their expected behavior inside & outside school premises. They were also addressed and welcomed by the Headmistress & the Section Supervisor to the new academic year.
Achiever’s Day was held on April 9th. Through this day, high achieving students from the previous academic year were honoured and felicitated. Prizes and certificates were distributed to them. It aimed to encourage them to keep up their good work.
A Slide Show on Isr’ a Wal Miraj was organised on April 8th. This activity created awareness among students about the miraculous journey that Prophet Mouhammad (PBUH) took and its importance in Islam. General awareness was shown to them through PPT.
Science Field Trips to Sharjah Desert Park were organised from April 10th to 15th for girls and from April 17th till 29th for boys. These educational trips were an opportunity for students to explore many exciting interactive exhibits. They also observed the desert animal and plant life.
Grade 3 (Girls)
World Health Day (Salad Making Competition) was conducted on April 11th. Students were given an opportunity to make healthy salad on the given theme. They were very enthusiastic and presented colourful, creative & healthy salads. They worked collaboratively.
Grade 3 & 4 (Girls)
Student Talks were organised on April 11th for grade 3 and on April 25th for grade 4. These talks aimed to train Student Council members for the development of their leadership skills, time management and discipline. It also helped them in gaining self-confidence and to be organized.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘World Health Day’ was conducted on April 17th with mass participation of grade 3 division ‘D’. This assembly was an opportunity for students to share their ideas and talents on stage. They were very enthusiastic and spoke with confidence. They presented the topic in English, Hindi and Arabic languages.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Awareness on Ramadan’ was postponed to next month and replaced with topic titled ‘World Book Day’ on April 24th with mass participation of grade 4 division ‘E’. During this assembly, students shared their ideas and talents on stage. They were very enthusiastic and spoke with confidence. They presented their topic in English, Hindi and Arabic languages.
Drawing Competition was conducted on April 29th. During this competition, students were given an opportunity to draw and colour on the given topics.
Grade 4 (Girls)
World Health Day (Poster Making Competition) was conducted on April 11th. Through this competition, students were given an opportunity to make paper collage posters on the given theme. They came up with wonderful & beautiful creativity and worked collaboratively.
Grade 3 & 4 (Boys)
Happy Hands activity planned on April 14th for KG 1 was cancelled owing to logistic issues.
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘Introduction to the Year of Tolerance’ and ‘Be Futuristic- Say No to PLASTIC -Lets vow to protect our common home’ were held on April 17th & 24th with mass participation of grade 4 divisions ‘L & M’ respectively. Students presented their topics in English, Hindi and Arabic languages.
Grade 4 (Boys)
Visit to Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) was organised on April 25th. Through this visit, selected students got an exposure to meet a few writers / authors and a wide range of books. It encouraged learning and self-education from a young age, helping raise a generation of leaders, scholars & professionals who will contribute to the development of their society.
World Book Day and Book Fair planned from April 22nd till 25th were cancelled due to logistic issues.
Before and After School Club Activities starts on April 21st for grades 2, 3 & 4. These extracurricular activities started successfully to encourage the artistic and creative minds of students. It will help to enhance their vision, reach higher goals & accomplishments, grow in all fields of life with creativity and develop leadership skills. It will also help to develop their full potential through positive, social, emotional, physical and intellectual experiences.
Meeting with Environment Club Students was organised on April 29th for grade 3 & 4 boys’ members. Through this general meeting, various duties and responsibilities of the Environment Club students were discussed.
Meeting with Environment Club Students and Awareness about Green Class was planned on April 29th is postponed to May 1st for grade 3 & 4 girls’ members.
Talk for Teachers was conducted on April 13th for newly recruited teachers. Orientation was given about the services and procedures of the Counselling Centre.
Talks for Students on the topics ‘Friendship’ for grade 1 boys, ‘Healthy Competition & Wellbeing’ for grade 2 boys, ‘Gratitude & Respect’ for grade 3 boys and ‘Observe, Initiate & Participate’ for grade 4 were held on April 18th, 23rd & 25th respectively. These talks made grade 1 boys aware of the importance of friendship and learnt ways to make friends, made grade 2 students aware of the what is healthy competition and the idea of wellbeing, helped grade 3 boys understand the importance & ways of showing respect and being grateful and helped grade 4 understand the importance of participating in activities and staying away from screen usage.
Talks for Parents on the topics ‘Foundation for Early Learning’ for KG 1 parents and ‘Unplug your Child’ for KG 2 parents were held on April 26th. The purpose of these talks for parents was to make them aware of the different aspects of early learning to help lay a good foundation for their ward. It also created awareness among them of the importance of time spent away from screens for healthy development and strategies to lessen screen usage.
Talks for Parents were held on April 26th for grades 1 to 4 parents whose ward receives learning support. These talks helped grades 1 to 3 parents equip with strategies to help their ward in blending to decode syllables & words and basic numeracy skills for home support, helped grade 2 to 4 parents with strategies to support student's phonics, blending & syllabication skills and to strengthen basic mathematical fluency & computation, helped grade 2 parents with strategies to bridge student's learning gaps in reading & numeracy, helped grade 1 parents with strategies in phonics, blending and number sense for home support.
CPD Program on Microsoft Office Level 2010 was conducted from April 23rd till 29th for teachers. This program included Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
A Session titled ‘Working Group on Reading’ was conducted on April 27th for Special Educators, LSA and Counsellors. This session dealt on how we can effectively use reading as a teaching tool to bridge learning gaps and enrich the quality of our student’s educators.
Before / After School Sports Coaching started on April 1st for grades 2, 3 & 4. This coaching is an opportunity for students who are talented in their chosen sports (Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Table Tennis and Yoga) to be trained by skilled and qualified PE teachers.
Weekend Sports Club begun on April 5th. Varied sports such as Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Gymnastics, Lawn Tennis, Football, Skating, Swimming, Table Tennis and Zumbalicious Yoga were offered. Teachers handled the class and provided meaningful experience which made their weekend productive and exciting.
