KG 1 & KG 2
Movie for a Cause was organised on May 10th for KG 2 and on May 13th for KG 1. This program was an opportunity to inculcate among students the noble act of charity and the sense of caring to less fortunate. They happily dropped money in the charity box. They also enjoyed the movie which was shown to them on the big screen.
Cool Pool Day was held from May 1st to 9th. Through water play, students enjoyed this unique fun activity. It enabled them to acquire extended learning in all developmental areas like experimenting with concepts and strengthening their physical & social skills.
Cleanliness Week was conducted from May 20th till 24th. During this week, students were engaged in activities. It aimed to inculcate among them the good grooming habits and personal awareness about hygiene & environmental cleanliness.
Cleanliness Day was held on May 24th. Students spoke on the object that helps them to stay clean. Power Point presentation was also shown to highlight their daily routines.
Gratitude Day was celebrated on May 8th. Through this day, students acknowledged and appreciated everything that the non-teaching staff done for them. They expressed how grateful they are for all the help and support. Program was organized wherein they performed for our dearest Chachas and Didis. They were also given a simple gift as a token gratitude.
Thematic Assembly was conducted on May 14th. Students from divisions ‘A & B’ presented a short skit at the center stage with the theme ‘Senses’. They were wearing props and sung songs about five senses. It helped them in understanding the concept of different five senses, its function and how to take good care of them.
Colour Day was held on May 17th. During this day, students wore different coloured dress according to the colour assigned to their class. They also brought pictures artistically decorated with different designs. On their break time they went to each and every class to see the different colourful pictures creatively designed. It was an awareness and appreciation of different colours around us and how it gives beauty to our surroundings.
PFG (Parent Focus Group) meeting was organised on May 20th. Through this meeting various concern were discussed. Parents gave their inputs and shared their views.
SSCS was conducted on May 27th. This session was a collaborative effort of teachers and parents to improve student’s performance. It also helped parents understand the progress of their ward.
Grade 1 & 2
PFG (Parent Focus Group) meeting was organised on May 20th. This meeting aimed to promote interaction between the school and the parents. Significant discussions were taken of the parent’s views on various school policies, procedures, the academics and the other activities in school.
Quiz on the topic ‘Year of Zayed’ was held on May 20th for Islamic students. Students were given a quiz to test their knowledge about the founding father of UAE. They enthusiastically prepared for the quiz by learning about the topic. It created more awareness among them on the Year of Zayed.
Mindfulness Session scheduled on May 29th was canceled as per instruction from Headmistress because it was intended for grade 3 & 4 students only.
Grade 1 (Girls)
Inter-Class Recitation (English) competition was conducted on May 28th. This competition aimed to develop student’s recitation skills. It also helped to enhance their English language skills.
Grade 1 & 2 (Girls)
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘Introduction to Year of Zayed’, ‘World Laughter Day’ and ‘World Family Day’ were conducted on May 1st, 8th & 15th with mass participation of grade 2 divisions ‘B, C & D’ respectively. These assemblies were an opportunity to harness talents of various performers and to ensure mass participation. It also created awareness among students about the founding father of the UAE and the importance of humour & family in our life.
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘Spirit of Ramadan’ and ‘Sheikh Zayed Vision - Education for All’ were conducted on May 22nd & 29th with mass participation of Islamic students and grade 2 division ‘E’. Through these assemblies, students were made aware of the importance of the holy month of Ramadan. It was also an opportunity to provide them a platform to showcase their skills, harness talents of various performers and ensure mass participation.
Grade 1 (Boys)
Fancy Dress competition was conducted on May 20th & 21st. During this competition, students were provided a medium to represent themselves as per the topic Disney characters. They represented themselves through their speech and costumes. It helped to develop their oratory skills and promote healthy competition between classmates.
English Declamation competition was conducted on May 31st. Students spoke aloud on one of the given topics using fluency, voice modulation, clarity, facial expression and delivered the speech to the best of their ability. It was an opportunity for them to showcase their talent and overcome their stage fear.
Grade 1 & 2 (Boys)
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘I am different & unique in my own way’, ‘World Family Day’ and ‘The Spirit of Ramadan’ were held on May 1st, 8th & 15th with mass participation of grade 1 divisions ‘M, N & O’ respectively. The purposed of these assemblies for students was to encourage individual participation, enhance their oral skills in English, Arabic & Hindi languages and promote their skill of enacting & speaking. They showcased how each one of us is different and every person is special & unique, emphasized the importance & values a child learns from their family and highlighted the importance & need of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan and how charity helps poor & needy. The entire class performed together to learn and share their knowledge. Songs, individual speeches and use of ICT was promoted. Dubai has taken the initiative to create awareness about strategies for ‘Anti Bullying’. Videos were shown in every class, an interactive session with students and role play regarding Anti Bullying was performed. Short session on Happiness was also included.
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘Little Act of Kindness’ and ‘International Day of Disabled’ were held on May 22nd & 29th with mass participation of grade 1 divisions ‘S & T’ respectively. During these assemblies, students displayed how a Little Act of Kindness can enlighten someone’s life. It also aimed to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights & well-being of persons with disabilities. It created awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It helped them understand the importance of the topics and the significance of health & hygiene. They also had a short session on Happiness where they learnt new ways to keep themselves happy and also shared their reason of being happy. They reflected their happiness in English, Hindi and Arabic languages.
SSCS (School Support Contact Session) was conducted on May 28th. Through this session, teachers provided feedback to the parents about their wards. They discussed the students’ progress and the area where they need to work upon.
Grade 2 (Boys)
Talent Search was organised on May 23rd. This activity was an opportunity for students to represent their talent through singing a song or playing an instrument or dancing. It also helped to develop healthy competition between peers. They showcased their talent and overcame their stage fear.
Grade 3 & 4
Quiz on ‘Year of Zayed’ was held on May 20th for boys and on May 21st for girls. Students actively participated with great enthusiasm and answered the quiz with confidence. It helped to enrich their knowledge about the founding father of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Expo 2020 Workshop for Teachers was held on May 21st. This workshop aimed to empower the knowledge of World Expo 2020 Dubai with a motto ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. It was an interactive to encourage more learning engagement and to promote innovative strategies.
Mindfulness Session was held on May 29th & 30th for grade 4 girls and on May 30th for grade 3 boys. This session helped students learn how to connect their values & motivation, to respond skillfully to the challenges of life and to communicate the value & understanding of fitness and other activities leading to mindfulness. It was inspiring, motivational and self-realizing for them. They also knew the importance of stress free life.
Making & Coding Project (Makey Codey) was started on May 20th for girls and on May 21st for boys. The objective of this project for students was to enhance their creativity using technology and to encourage interest in STEAM – based learning in a fun, collaborative environment. It was also an opportunity for them to know the latest technological developments and apply their innovative thinking skills to create a variety of applications.
Grade 3 & 4 (Girls)
Leadership Training was held on May 5th, 12th & 19th for Student Council members. The purpose of this training for students was for the development of their leadership skills. It also helped them in gaining self-confidence, time management skills and to be disciplined & organized.
Thematic Assembly by Islamic Department was conducted on May 9th. Through this assembly, students were given an opportunity to speak about the importance of Awareness on Ramadan. It created awareness among them about the importance of and benefits of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘International Day of Families’ and ‘World Yoga Day’ were conducted on May 16th & 23rd with mass participation of grade 3 division ‘C’ and grade 4 division ‘J’ respectively. These assemblies were an opportunity for students to share their ideas confidently and talents on stage. It also helped them understand how Yoga improves their flexibility, builds muscles strength, perfect posture and more. They were enthusiastic and spoke with confidence.
Grade 3 (Boys)
English Recitation (Individual) competition was conducted on May 24th. This competition was an opportunity to encourage students to develop their recitation skill & confidence, understand the importance of correct intonation and learn voice modulation. It also helped to enhance their oratory skills in English with usage of proper voice modulation and correct intonation.
Grade 3 & 4 (Boys)
Thematic Assembly was conducted on May 9th. During this assembly, students of Islamic Department participated in a mass performance on stage based on the topic ‘The Spirit of Ramadan’. It was an opportunity to teach them about their faith. It also helped them understand that the entire month of Ramadan is in essence of a celebration of the holy Quran’s revelation, which is described as a “Guide and Mercy for those who do good”.
Thematic Assemblies titled ‘International Day of Families’, ‘Happy City Dubai- Sustainability’ and ‘Help Make a Difference in Someone’s Life’ were conducted on May 16th & 28th with mass participation of grades 4 divisions ‘R, S & T’ respectively. These assemblies were an opportunity for students to perform on stage. They presented their topics in English, Hindi and Arabic languages. It helped to develop their public speaking skills.
PFG (Parent Focus Group) meeting was organised on May 21st. The common agendas discussed were ‘sharing of UAE National Agenda, child’s behaviour, personal grooming and discipline’. It was an opportunity to know parent’s views & feedbacks on various school policies, procedures, academics and other activities in school. It could be gathered and healthy / practical ones could be implemented.
Charity Drive was held from May 21st till 31st. Through a pure Charity based campaign called Food Bank, students were instilled the values and joy of giving & leading our world towards prosperity while keeping in mind to reduce food wastage and aiming towards zero hunger. It also aimed to contribute towards social well-being.
STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) project was conducted from May 27th to 31st. This project empowered students to take ownership of their education. It also helped to develop their skills like collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving.
Student Council Meeting was organised on May 30th. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce new Council members and to have happy individuals who can manage their own & other emotions and behaviours. It focused on discipline, responsibility and awareness.
Grade 4 (Boys)
Kaun Banega Gyanpati was held on May 28th. Through this quiz, students gained knowledge beyond their textbooks in Hindi. It also helped to improve their confidence in Hindi language.
English Debate was conducted on May 31st. The objective of this competition for students was to encourage budding orators who can frame arguments for and against a particular topic. Their topic was ‘should robots replace teachers’. It also helped to enhance their oratory skills.
Visits to Wahat Al Sahraa Nursery were organised on May 20th & 21st for grade 3 & 4 Environment Club members’ boys and on May 22nd & 23rd for grade 3 & 4 Environment Club members’ girls. Students were taken for a trip to the plant nursery to gain knowledge about different kinds of plants, learn about plantation and get an insight about the biodiversity of a garden. It helped to develop observations and social skills among them. It was also an opportunity to motivate them to own & cultivate plants & trees for a healthy environment and share their experience on it.
Drawing Competition was conducted on May 31st for grade 3 & 4 Environment Club members. This competition was an opportunity for students to showcase their concern towards the environment with their creativity keeping in mind the given topic. It also helped them enhance their creativity with perspective of the environment. They worked individually with enthusiastic and presented colorful & creative drawing.
Parent Talks on the topics ‘Unplug Your Child’ for KG 2 parents and ‘Academic Strategies To Help Students’ for grade 1 & 2 parents were conducted on May 4th. Through these talks, KG 2 parents were educated about the negative consequences of screen Time and how to manage it effectively. Grade 1 & 2 parents were provided with tips and tricks to improve literacy, numeracy & general study skills.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Be Smart’ planned on May 10th for grade 1 boys was rescheduled and completed on May 17th due to conflict with other school program (audit period). Students learnt through lot of activities and stories about how to be alert while studying, making friends & managing time.
CPD program on E-Learning – “Destination Success” and “Use of Interactive White Boards” were organised from May 1st till 30th respectively. These trainings helped our teachers to understand the collaborative tool needed. They were trained in the effective use of the eLearning modules along with the eLearning equipment that is made available in the classroom. It also helped us to determine the level and effectiveness of some of our teachers in using ‘Interactive White Boards’.
A Workshop on Gestalt + Narrative Therapy, Occupational and Massage Therapy was conducted on May 5th for selected Counsellors. The objective of this workshop was to give further training for in-house counsellors as part of continuous professional development initiatives.
Participatory Approach for Primary School Teachers in the subject of Social Science was held on May 5th.The topics that was dealt were To develop critical thinking & problem solving skills, Research based learning in Social Science, Incorporating innovation in everyday learning, Creative ways to improve local & global awareness in students, Question skills & preparing worksheets, Sensitize students to environmental issues, Create an understanding of social & cultural diversity (with the help of case studies), Develop a cooperative spirit through team work, Innovative techniques to encourage a global outlook to be world citizens and to develop a growth mindset to make them lifelong learners.
Happy Healthy Self Information Sharing Session was conducted on May 24th at Canadian University Dubai for selected Counsellors. This session aimed to provide a platform where we can gain from each other’s knowledge and experience in helping students generate positive energy, work towards a positive mindset and subsequently elevate their overall sense of wellbeing, which is proven to be a significant component of students’ success.
